The best in… blooks?

March 11th, 2010

Have you heard of the hot new term in publishing?  A blook, as defined by Wikipedia, is a printed book that contains content or is based upon content from a blog. These books are becoming so popular that there are now yearly awards given to the best blooks.  The Lulu Blooker Prize, the world’s first literary prize for blooks, has an expert panel of judges including Nick Cohen, Arianna Huffington of The Huffington Post, and Julie Powell, who won her own Lulu Blooker Prize in 2006 for her blog-turned-book-turned-movie Julie & Julia.

Because most blogs are started by ordinary people, they are filled with real emotion, and heartwarming stories that make us laugh, cry, and thank God that we are not alone in our thoughts and experiences.  Here are a couple of great blooks that you can add to your collection:

Let’s face it, life is embarrassing and emotional, so why not laugh or cry along with real people.  If you are in need of a story that makes you feel like embarrassment is normal, try this one:

“Today I was in an interview for a music school. When I got my guitar out of its case, I realized that my friends had thought it would be funny to replace my real guitar with one from the Guitar Hero video game. FML”

See your life isn’t that bad… at least for today.

A complete list of blook titles can be found in Content Reserve.

Great post! I check FML and TFLN all the time. Do you have any Post Secret books?

Thanks for the comment Dorothy. We do not have any Post Secret eBooks, it looks like they do not exist in eBook format yet.
