Most Downloaded Books from the Library Lists for May 2010

June 2nd, 2010

The Most Downloaded Books from the Library lists for May 2010 feature new blockbuster titles and book one from an immensely popular series.

Nabbing the No. 6 spot on the most downloaded adult fiction audiobook list is the newest thriller by Lee Child. In 61 Hours, the 14th installment in the Jack Reacher series, time is ticking as Reacher races to save a small town in South Dakota. Also on the list is The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest by the late Stieg Larsson. The conclusion to the Millennium Trilogy was only released a week ago, but has already managed to make it into many users’ bookshelves.

New to the most downloaded nonfiction audiobooks list is the controversial biography of one of the world’s most powerful women. Oprah by Kitty Kelley not only chronicles the media mogul’s rise, but also serves as a tell-all for her personal and professional life.

It’s no surprise that a vampire-plotted title would make the most downloaded list, what is surprising is that this particular one took so long. The famed Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris, made even more popular by True Blood on HBO, began with Dead Until Dark, which made the list as the fifth most downloaded adult fiction eBook.

And finally to the ever-so-fabulous Carrie Bradshaw who has not only returned to the silver screen in Sex and the City 2 but also to the printing press with The Carrie Diaries. Author Candace Bushnell tells the story of Carrie, pre-glam and New York City minded. Not only does the book have a great cover, it’s also the No. 8 most downloaded juvenile fiction eBook.

The Most Downloaded Books from the Library lists are organized by subject and format, and compiled based on activity at more than 10,000 libraries in the OverDrive global network. You can view these lists of most downloaded books for the month of May in Content Reserve.
