Content from Down Under: eBooks from Australia and New Zealand

November 2nd, 2011

As the northern hemisphere prepares for hibernation and another long, dark, dreary winter, our partners in the land down under are bathing suit shopping and blowing up their beach balls—just in time for summer!  As jealous as we may be of the weather, we have spent the year at OverDrive bulking up on our offerings of native content from Australia and New Zealand to fill the eReaders this summer.

In addition to gorgeous landscapes, kangaroos, and natural resources, Australia and New Zealand has lot to brag about in the way of literary contributions.  Some fine examples of the written word have hailed from Australia and New Zealand this year. Some highlights of the last year include:

Red Dog by Louis De Bernieres published by Random House Australia

The Secret River by Kate Grenville published by The Text Publishing Company

The Happiest Refugee by Anh Do published by Allen & Unwin

Being Here by Barry Jonsberg published by Allen & Unwin Children’s

Darren Lockyer: An Autobiography by Darren Locker published by Random House Australia

Alva’s Boy by Alan Collins published by Port Campbell Press
