With the New Year now in full swing, many of us are becoming familiar with the word ‘training.’ Training for a marathon, getting a fitness personal trainer, training to become a master chef … no time like the month of January to revive those health goals. Here at OverDrive, we want to encourage you to exercise your mental health. New Year, new you … get that brain in shape! One way to do that is through OverDrive Training.
On OverDrive Central: Online Learning Center you can access all our training materials in the following sections:
- View Now: Need training right away? View our core courses at your convenience … plus pause, stop and fast forward to suit your learning style.
- Register: Keep your eyes peeled for upcoming training opportunities.
- Resources: Spread the word about your OverDrive service through promotional and educational materials. All materials are free to our library and school partners.
- Networking: Have questions, comments or feedback? Connect with us and other partners through Facebook, Twitter and our blog. For more specific questions, you can email us directly.
A relatively new resource that has received plenty of great feedback is the Going Mobile Preview page that houses short how-to video series for different devices.
Among the praise, we’ve heard …
“Wonderful idea! Keep them coming!”
“These videos are terrific! Can’t wait for them to be ready for ‘prime time’ so we can use them with patrons!”
“Your videos are very simple and professional looking and, I hope, will save us a lot of time in training both staff and patrons.”
These videos will become available to your users in 2012 as part of the new OverDrive Help. In the mean time, we ask that you do not link to these pages as the preview site is intended for staff use only at this time.
If you have any training related questions (or, if you need some motivation to keep those resolutions), please contact training@overdrive.com.
Cassie Renner is a training specialist at OverDrive.

On 11/14/11, I wrote on OverDrive’s Facebook Wall to ask whether we could share these videos with the public with the caveat that they could disappear at any time & Brianne responded that we could do so although she suggested not to link to them from our library site quite yet.
So can we still share these links with the public with the caveat or can we not share them at all?
Hi Tim, the content of the videos is fine to share with the public. Right now, the videos are not living at their permanent address, so we wanted to warn people as such. Also, Overdrive.com is a place for our library partners, and so the link should not be shared with patrons at this time. However, the content of the videos is able to be shared on a one-on-one basis for now. Thanks. -Brianne
Thanks, Brianne. As mentioned above, I’m one of the ones itching for these videos to be ready for the public as I think they’ll be quite helpful.
