This week, Team OverDrive gathered at our headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio, to cheer as we witnessed the 100-millionth digital media checkout using OverDrive-powered “virtual branch” libraries. We captured the moment in this Library Media Network video.
This milestone is the result of years of library innovations. In April 2003, starting with a modest collection of popular materials, Cleveland Public Library opened the first OverDrive “virtual branch” and pioneered eBook checkout No. 1. Every month since, dozens of new library partners in the United States and around the world have joined our network as we continually enhance access for millions of readers to the industry’s largest collection of popular eBooks, audiobooks and other media.
We congratulate the thousands of librarians who have guided our efforts to enhance the value of our partnerships for your libraries and communities. These ongoing innovations will be on display this weekend at the American Library Association Annual Conference (Booth #1362) in Anaheim, Calif., as we demo our Next Generation digital library service. If you’re attending ALA, please drop by to see new services like OverDrive Read, streaming audiobooks, and OverDrive APIs. In the coming weeks, we’ll continue to elaborate on how the Next Generation digital library platform will benefit your library and your patrons.
