The other night, my fiancée was looking for a new cake recipe to try for dinner. Pinterest. Recently, we were looking for some clever wedding décor ideas and a new way to store our glassware. Pinterest. And when a library partner recently asked me for a clever way to share their “eBook of the day,” what do you think I suggested? Pinterest.
That’s right, boys and girls: the highly addictive online corkboard is no longer just for arts, crafts and desserts. If you’re looking for fun and creative ways to market your OverDrive-powered collection—in addition to contacting us directly, subscribing to this blog, and connecting with us on Facebook and Twitter—you can now follow us on Pinterest! We’ll be using our new pinboards to share marketing and outreach ideas, fun photos and inspirational initiatives to help boost your circulation.
To get things rolling, we’re inviting our school and library partners to help us populate our “Where Are You eReading?” board. Submit photos of yourself, your patrons or your students enjoying eBooks in a favorite place—whether that’s at the beach, on the bus…wherever. Send us photos via email or post them to our Facebook page; we’ll add them to the board and direct users back to your virtual branch website. The fun doesn’t stop there—you can start a similar board on your library’s Pinterest page, and we’ll re-pin some of our favorites.
