It’s been a few months since we’ve published a Most Downloaded blog, and I’m happy to report that things look familiar as autumn (or Spring, depending on your geography) approaches. You’ll still find plenty of spice, from “Fifty Shades” to “Gone Girl,” while the kids remain enchanted by “Harry Potter” and engaged in “The Hunger Games.”
There are, however, several newcomers to talk about for September. In Australia, Beverly Barton’s suspenseful romance title “Dead by Midnight” has stalked the Adult Fiction Audiobook download list for five straight months. Daniel B. Smith has also woven his way onto the scene in Australian with his look into a life of anxiety, “Monkey Mind,” currently sitting as the sixth most downloaded adult nonfiction audiobook.
“Monkey Mind” has also struck a nerve in Canada, where it was number eight among the top nonfiction audiobooks. Native son and teen heartthrob Justin Bieber hit the Juvenile eBook download charts with his self-titled autobiography (lots of pictures, if you’re into the Biebermania). James Patterson’s latest audiobook mystery, “Zoo,” and Lee Child’s “A Wanted Man” and “Deep Down” are all new to the most downloaded lists in the past two months for Canada.
Lee Child also lays claim to the Most Downloaded Adult Fiction eBook in the UK, with “First Thrills.” Elizabeth Corley joins him with two adult audiobooks in the top ten, including the No. 1 overall title, “Requiem Mass.” Her other novel, “Fatal Legacy,” is relatively new, and sits in the sixth position. Rodney Bolt followed in the successful steps of Downton Abbey with his biography, “The Impossible Life of Mary Benson.”
Finally, back in the United States, we find a hodgepodge of everything we’ve seen on this world tour. John Grisham (“The Litigators,” “Calico Joe),” David Baldacci and other big names are still dominating the scoreboard, while Kim Carpenter’s movie-inspiring title “The Vow” and Veronica Roth’s, “Insurgent,” recently joined the ranks.
Add these heavy hitters to your library’s virtual branch today and help your patrons get familiar with the most popular titles from around the world.
We organize the Most Downloaded Books from the Library lists according to subject and format, based on activity at more than 19,000 libraries in the OverDrive global network. You can view these lists and add the titles to your collection in Content Reserve.
