As libraries and schools around the world continue to expand their digital offerings, OverDrive continues to grow alongside the industry we serve. Today, we’re thrilled to learn that OverDrive ranks 221st on Deloitte’s Technology Fast 500, an index of the 500 fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. OverDrive’s 382-percent growth isn’t quite as extreme as the growth of Tesla Motors—the electric vehicle manufacturer experienced 279,684-percent revenue growth from 2007 to 2011—but we’re honored join so many forward-thinking technology companies on the index. Steve Potash, our CEO, attributes the recent growth to the rising popularity of eBooks at libraries and schools, and expects a spike in demand over the holidays to continue through 2013. “While we are proud of our growth, we’re also energized by the thousands of libraries and schools in our network who connect readers with books and authors,” he says. “We’re working to roll out our Next Generation platform to help libraries prepare for a significant increase in visitors looking to borrow eBooks and other digital media.”
The Technology Fast 500 ranking comes as we prepare to launch our Next Generation platform (see YouTube preview), which will streamline the digital library experience for millions of users around the world with One-Step Checkout™ and the new, instant access, browser-based, eBook-reading technology OverDrive Read. Stay tuned for news about the Next Generation rollout!
