Earlier today, SirsiDynix announced plans to integrate OverDrive APIs into eResource Central, its electronic resource management solution for libraries. The integration will enable SirsiDynix library customers to provide their patrons with a single access point to electronic resources including eBooks, eJournals and other digital formats.
“As an industry leader of integrated library system solutions, we’re excited to work with the global leader in eBook distribution to provide simplified management and access to some of the most extensive eBook collections in the world,” said SirsiDynix CEO Bill Davidson. The pending SirsiDynix integration is the latest example of OverDrive APIs in action. Last fall, we described how Colorado’s Marmot Library Network and Rangeview Library District are using the APIs to integrate OverDrive-supplied content into OPAC search results. Currently, there are dozens of libraries and approved vendors working on OverDrive API integration initiatives, and we’ll keep you posted as those projects come to fruition.

I absolutely love overdrive. but I wish books wouldn’t disappear after 4 weeks. I load my nook and ipad with as many books as I can but if we are traveling for 2 months and my books return themselves after 4 weeks, and we have no access to Wifi. That is what I would like to have fixed. I would like to be able to renew my ebooks – or do extended checkout.
