Beginning March 1, Macmillan will offer a selection of popular eBooks for lending at OverDrive-powered public libraries in the United States. Under the pilot program, more than 1,150 eBooks from Macmillan’s Minotaur Books imprint will be available in Content Reserve. The collection includes thrillers, mysteries, psychological suspense, and hard-boiled crime, featuring popular authors like Chris Ewan, Ian Rankin, Charles Todd and more.

The Macmillan pilot will follow a one-copy/one-user lending model, and libraries will be able to circulate each copy for 24 months or 52 checkouts, whichever comes first. Titles will cost $25.00. Macmillan titles will be in the “Metered Access” section in Content Reserve.
The Macmillan pilot program includes conditions that affect consortia. The Macmillan terms restrict purchase for shared collections (i.e., consortia collections). Individual member libraries that have OverDrive Advantage accounts are permitted to purchase Macmillan eBooks for their Advantage collections. For full terms and conditions, click here.
