I wonder how bad the rating will drop now that us who did the apple update can’t even download books to our devises? I have tried everything I have read and was told and watch all the books I check out expire.
    Has anyone figured this out?

Why does overdrive have limits in place that trigger 710 errors even when a patron has not abused the system but is instead a very fast reader? If a patron has not reached a maximum number of checkouts shouldn’t he/she be allowed to borrow additional ebooks? I googled error 710 & found comments about 710 nationwide.

Perhaps you could publish specific guidelines so that readers could avoid these errors.

Hi Carol, the 710 error is in place to protect publishers and authors. We will look into publishing guidelines going forward. Thank you for your patience. -Brianne

does one have to have a library card for accessing any overdrive anywhere? my library does not have overdrive. I can get a card from Durango ,CO- does that then give me access to all libraries across the nation, that have overdrive?

Hi Rosemarie, a library card will get you access to the OverDrive collection only at that library. Check around to see if there is a library in your state with OverDrive that you can join. -Brianne

    Hello,

I have a Kobian Hipstreet E-reader. It is made by Dell and I a wondering if it is compatible with Overdrive?

I have searched the web and I found a facebook comment – but it was done in May of last year – Is it compatible at all with Overdrive through the libraries?

    Thank you!!

I have unsuccesfully attempted to load Overdrive Media console on my Desktop computer. It will not work. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. I have Windows Media Player 12. I have the same set up on my laptop and it works great. I tried contacting the Library and they have not been able to help. The error mesage I receive states: “Overdrive Media Console is not able to check the version required for the selected title” and “Unable to get the OMC detect object used to get version information.” I have a screen shot of the error if needed. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi Ashley, We have not yet tested this device. From reading the website for the Hip Street (http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=ca&l=en&sku=A4912937), it appears to be compatible with PDF and EPUB formats. Once we have tested the device we then place it on the device resource center page on our website (http://www.overdrive.com/resources/drc/). Currently we can only recommend the devices listed on this page. Check this webpage as we continue to add compatible devices. You are welcome to try using your device with our service; however, until we can test the device and verify compatibility, we are unable to provide further support. -Brianne

Having happily used Overdrive on my iphone I downloaded it for my new adroid phone (Gingerbread) and I can’t get Adobe to authorise the phone. I sucessfully changed my email and password (checked using my pc) but still it won’t authorise my phone. How do I solve this problem?

I just recently received a Blackberry Playbook as a gift but I can’t use overdrive on it as the library indicated that it is not an approved device Is there any plans to get an installer for this I would love to be able to check out books from my library on it.

Please pass this to the person in charge of the digital library. I have been a user since May. Last year this was a great resource. This year access to books on a timely basis has deteriorated dramatically. Here are some reasons I believe are the cause for deterioration. 1. Nooks and Kindles were a big Christmas item so the user base increased dramatically. 2.The number of copies did not keep pace with the increase in users. 3.You increased the number of holds on books from 6 to 10 which is a 67% increase in usage. 4.You increased the checkout period to 21 days. This is a 50% increase in the time books can be held and decreases available access. 5.You do not advise users how to return books so many just keep them until the loan period is up. My suggestions. 1. Cut checkout period to 14 days. 2. Most importantly, include reminders and instructions to users on how to return books, as most users do not know this is possible. 3. Get more copies if you can afford it.

I have tried to download an audiobook I borrowed online from the library. I have been using the ‘transfer’ function in the Overdrive Media Console. It says it goes through, but then I cannot find it. Sometimes it says it will work but will need to delete all other media from my iPod – even when I allow it to do this, the title comes up within my ‘Music’ but with no content. Even though it says it is a successful transfer every time, I can’t find it anywhere on my iPod. Note I have a 32GB iPod Touch 3rd generation, OMC v3.2.1.0 and iTunes v10.5.3.3.

I have been reading ebooks from my local library for 1.5 years+ on my Nook and have really enjoyed it. The demand, though, has obviously risen sharply. Recently I found a book I wanted and would have been #134 on the waiting list! Most of us with Nooks, Kindles et al probably have a little money we could share with our libraries if it would increase the size of the library’s ebook collection. Why aren’t our libraries doing e-fund raisers?
